KANNAWIDAN: COMMEMORATION OF THE RICH CULTURAL, CUSTOMS, AND TRADITIONS OF ILOCOS

Kannawidan Ylocos Festival has evolved into an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the preservation of the province's rich cultural history, customs, and traditions, as well as showcasing the province's many agricultural and industrial goods. It is the Ilocanos' way of thanking the Almighty not only for many bounties but as well as for the province's rich tradition, which includes deep familial relationships among the Ilocanos. Kannawidan means "traditions," and this region has the opportunity to demonstrate everything it has to offer. The Ilocanos display cultural events, native goods, and Ilocanos' abilities during this festival. There is indeed a pressing urgency to protect our rich legacy and distinctive culture. This celebration is particularly important to the residents of a province since it commemorates the establishment of Ilocos Sur as a province by Royal Decree.

The event celebrates Ilocos Sur's rich legacy, tradition, culture, arts, crafts, and gastronomy. This event places a greater emphasis on youngsters. It is due to the fact that several customs, songs, dances, and other aspects of Ilocano culture are not acknowledged by the province's newer generations. Rather than traditional dances, youngsters are increasingly interested in current and novelty dances they see on television. This is one of the causes of the Kannadiwan Festival. The municipality of Ilocos Sur created this event to enable the youth of today to learn the province's indigenous music and customs. The majority of the activities revolve around the Ilocano people's rich culture, as well as other parts of the festival. Normally, this festival is arranged to showcase the province's rich culture across several aspects such as arts, agriculture, dance and music, food, and province-based goods, also known as OTOP ). However, because the global epidemic is still currently underway, amusement parks, which children enjoy, are excluded this year.

Overall, the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival promotes younger generations to discover the province of Ilocos Sur's traditional music and dances. It is noteworthy because it has a fascinating history relating to its genesis that brings people together and fosters a sense of satisfaction, Let us all work together to preserve these cultures for future generations, and this will serve as our Ilocano identity.
